While planning my latest trip to Florida, one of my friends had the greatest idea! We should stay an extra day or two and take a trip to Universal Orlando. We’ve been dying to go since they opened the new part of Harry Potter World this summer. Since we were already going to be in Florida, it seemed like the best time to go. One of the girls and I decided to stay two extra days so we would have one full day at Universal. We rented a car Sunday night and left for Orlando at 5am on Monday. It was early. It was a long day. It was so worth it.
I don’t think I can even describe how magical the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is. They nailed even single detail. The rides were part roller coaster, part simulation and they were by far the best rides I’ve been on. You actually ride on the Hogwarts Express to get from Diagon Alley to Hogwarts.
At first, we couldn’t find it. It’s in the way back of Universal. But then it opened up and there is was!
We were confused once again because we couldn’t figure out how to get to Diagon Alley. We saw all these people walking in and out of these staggered brick wall so we followed. I think we all gasped when behind the wall was Diagon Alley! They made it look just like the movie!
They had all the shops just like in the movie!
Next we took the Hogwarts Express over to Hogsmead!
Then the magic continued! It wasn’t just a train ride, it was an actual ride. They had a story line and effects going on while onboard.
And Hogsmead was just as magical as well. Once again, I felt like I was really in the movie.
The ride inside Hogwarts was my favorite ride of the day! The line to get on takes you thru the castle and you get to see different rooms from the movies.
I am SO HAPPY that we made the decision to stay and went. The Wizarding Worls of Harry Potter might be my new favorite place on earth. It was one of the best days of my life. I don’t think I stopped smiling all day!
Friday night we had planned to all rock our LBD and the bride would wear a LWD. (is Little White Dress a thing?) I must say, we looked ah-mazing.
We had reservations at a place called Harmonious Monks. We didn’t really know what to expect. It turns out that all the servers there are also singers/performers. There was a stage in front with a guitarist (who also sang) and a drummer, but the main singers were the servers. They sang the best songs to dance to. This was right up the bride’s alley. We ended up staying the all night because we were having so much fun!
On Saturday morning we all piled back into the car to head back to the MOH’s house.
We didn’t really have plans for the day and half of us weren’t feeling great after the previous night, so we decided to lay by the pool. This also turned into one of the better parts of the weekend. We all laid around the pool talking, laughing, and telling stories.
Saturday night we all wore our ‘Team Bride’ shirts. Once again, we looked ah-mazing.
We went out to hibachi for dinner. I’ve never had it before and it was so much fun! Our chef kept calling one of the girls ‘sake girl’ and for some reason we thought it was hilarious. (In care you’re wondering, the nickname had stuck.)
After we went to a restaurant/bar to watch the MOH’s favorite singer, Darrel Rae. We thought she was crazy for how obsessed she is, but he’s really good! We also had a scavenger hunt that we did! Only half of us got really into it but it was SO MUCH FUN. I recommend it for any bachelorette party.
Overall, this was the best weekend of my life. It was awesome to be reunited with all of my best friends. I refuse to go another three years without us all getting together!
This past weekend my friends and I went to Jacksonville, FL for my best friend’s bachelorette party. The MOH lives there so it was an easy place to go on a semi-budget. 8 girls went in total and it was one of the best weekends of my life. My girlfriends and I have not all been in the same place, at the same time since college (over three years ago)!
We left Thursday night. 3 of us flew out together and if our airport experience was any indication of how the weekend was going to go, we were in for a good time!
We started drinking before the airport, continued drinking at the airport, and finished drinking on the plane. We were disappointed to discover that getting air drunk is not a real thing – the altitude doesn’t really effect anything.
Our flight attendant on the first plane was adorable. He announced to the whole plane that my friend was getting married so everyone clapped and congratulated her.
When we landed we went straight to The Mill House. It’s a steak house + bar and it’s basically my favorite place to go in Jax. They have $1.99 drinks, free bread with amazing oil dip, and the best garlic parm wings ever. But mostly I was just expected to finally be together with all my people!
First thing we did Friday morning was pass out the goodie bags! Instead of one person making and spending a lot of money on eight goodie bags, everyone brought eight of something to put together. My friends really went all out. Our bags included – personalized tumblers, beach towels, wine glasses, and coasters, ‘Team Bride’ t-shirts, picture frames, and small liquor, wine, and energy bottles.
Our plan was to go to the beach all day on Friday. Even though it was cloudy, it was fairly warm so we decided to stick to the plan. I’m so glad we did. Some of my favorite parts of the weekend were when all my friends and I were just sitting around talking, laughing, and telling stories. I love my friends more then I can describe and I missed them more then I even knew.
We spent a few hours at the beach before heading to the hotel. Since the MOH lives about 45 minutes from the good beaches, we got a hotel there so we could spend a night at the beach bars.
Since this post is long enough as it is (and I have about a million more pictures) I’ll you here in suspense! Tomorrow I’ll talk about Friday night at the beach bars and our Saturday night scavenger hunt!
